At Kangaroo House, the guest rooms are named for some of the dozens of wild birds often seen in our backyard wildlife sanctuary. Room rates includes our delicious, multi-dish breakfast. You might want to bring your swimsuit to enjoy a relaxing soak in the garden hot tub. Each room has robes & beach towels for hot tub use, a hair dryer, and a flashlight. An iron and ironing board are available upon request. Credit cards are charged when you make your reservation, unless other arrangements are made with Jill or Charles by phone. If you make a reservation for the following year, your card will be charged the first week of January.

The bedroom looks out to the front yard where deer are often seen grazing in the morning and twilight. It has a king-size bed with a beautiful smooth, wooden headboard, stained glass reading lamps, and an antique armoire. The private sitting room provides a great place to read and relax in the 1860’s wing back chairs, watch the TV/DVD, or play a game. The tilt-down double bed remains hidden in the cabinet until needed. Click on the photo to see the sitting room with Murphy bed up / down. The private bath has a lovely lavatory seated in a lovely antique birdseye maple dresser, and a tub/shower combination.

The room’s grand King bed with sleigh headboard envelopes you in decadent comfort. The room is decorated in deep greens and reds along with an antique chest of drawers, dressing mirror and hand-carved chairs. The spacious private bath has a tub/shower combination and a sink mounted in an antique dresser. Guests enjoy watching from the bathroom window as deer browse in the front lawn.
The Goldfinch Room is well-suited for a couple or those traveling alone.

The Nuthatch Room {pronounced nut-hatch} and named for the adorable nuthatch bird, has a second floor window that overlooks the strolling gardens at the back of the house. The Nuthatch Room features a Queen sized private chamber (not shown in the photo here) enclosed on three sides and draped on the fourth side in rich red tapestry with an antique chandelier hanging above the bed, casting an amber glow. It’s like climbing into Cinderella’s coach, only more romantic. The room is sage green with pine wainscotting. There is also a twin bed tucked under the eave (many adults find this quite adequate, but it does have restricted head room - click on additional photos to see "nook"). There is a pedestal sink and mirror in the bedroom, and a private bathroom with shower.

This bright, cheery room on the second floor looks out over the south meadow of the back yard. It has a queen-sized bed, antique armoire, and white wicker sitting area. Decorated in greens, blues, and white, with white wainscotting, this room has a charming island feel. There is a pedestal sink and vanity mirror in the room, and a private bathroom with shower.
The Chickadee Room is well-suited for couples, two who will share the queen bed, or for the guest travelling alone.

It is decorated in the Craftsman style with a mission style queen bed, a twin bed, and a trundle twin that comes out from beneath the twin, and several fun, historic relics from the sea and foreign travel. A separate sitting room overlooks the front yard and is a great space to sit and relax, watch the TV/DVD, or play games. The suite has a private bath with a large shower. Note: As of May 1st 2008 the Flicker Suite will have a King size and a Full size mission style bed in the main room.
The Flicker Suite works well for couples who enjoy the spaciousness of a suite, for families, or traveling companions needing separate beds.

For family reunions, bicycle groups, retreats, or for wedding guest accommodations - rent the entire inn, and enjoy it all for yourselves. With multiple beds in several of the rooms, and a porta-crib, a variety of sleeping arrangments can be provided. The whole inn rate includes a sumptuous breakfast every day you are here and use of all public facilities for your group staying at the inn. Weddings on site, events with food or beverages, any event to be attended by someone not staying at Kangaroo House, and all other organized events require prior arrangements, and additional charges would apply.
2 night minimum. All 5 guest rooms (3 rooms, 2 suites) common rooms, decks and gardens (not including the kitchen and owners quarters), $850 plus tax per night May through September, $720 plus tax per night October through April , based on double occupancy. Room for up to 15 guests if needed for additional $25 + tax for each guest over 2 in a room. Maximum occupancy 15 overnight guests total. No age restrictions. Full amount charged when you reserve the inn.
Whole inn rentals are represented by a special contract. Check availability online, but the actual arrangements need to be conducted by phone (888 371-2175). Let us work with you to make your special event a memorable one.
Lodging Reservations can be made online or by phone - charged to Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express at the time we process your reservation. In summer, we may be booked 6-8 weeks in advance. We start preparing breakfast at 6:00AM and focus on our current guests right through our 8:00AM and 9:00AM seatings, finishing up around 10:00AM Pacific Time. Before 10:00AM we ask that you make reservations online rather than by phone, if possible.
Cancellations: All cancellations result in a $20 fee. We charge your credit card for the full reservation charges when you initially make the reservation. If you cancel with less than 14 days notice, we’ll refund you the cost of any day we are able to rebook, minus the $20. There is no guarantee that we can rebook all the nights of your reservation. Because we can’t know if we did not recieve a cancellation email you sent, please do not consider your cancellation complete until you have received a cancellation confirmation email back from us. In other words, when you have an email from us confirming it’s cancelled, then you can be certain it’s cancelled. If you don’t receive a confirmation e-mail, please call us.
Whole Inn Rental Cancellation fees apply for cancellation of any day or part of a whole inn rental: We refund the amount paid minus $500 if more than 14 days notice is received. No refund is made if notice of cancellation is made 14 days or fewer before your scheduled arrival date.
 | Kangaroo House is a non-smoking facility, both in the inn and on the grounds. Smoking in the inn will result in additional charges. | | We cannot accommodate pets. Eastsound Kennels (360 376-2410) can, but prior arrangements are necessary. | We do welcome families with children 9 yrs old or older. Check-in: Any time after 2:30PM. Don’t worry, we’ll leave a key out for you if you get in late. Check-out by 11:00AM please.
